Panchamasali Lingayat Seer Alleges Threats from Siddaramaiah's Congress Government in Karnataka

Bagalkot (Karnataka), Dec 1 (NationPress) Kudalasangama Panchamasali Peeth seer Basavaraj Jaya Mruthyunjaya Swami, who is at the forefront of the movement advocating for reservation under 2A Category, has alleged that community leaders are facing threats from the Congress government in Karnataka, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, to stifle the agitation for reservation.

During a press conference, the seer issued a grave warning stating that if the situation escalates, a "blood revolution" could ensue in the state.

"In light of the ongoing struggle for the 2A Category for the Panchamasali Lingayat community, we have been subjected to intimidation under the leadership of CM Siddaramaiah. Over the past four days, the taluk unit presidents and district presidents have faced threats. If matters worsen, a blood revolution is imminent,” he declared.

“Our protests began during the tenure of the BJP government led by former CM Basavaraj Bommai, where we protested outside Bommai's residence without facing any legal repercussions. However, under CM Siddaramaiah's administration, we are being threatened,” he continued.

The seer emphasized that if any involvement of Congress legislators is discovered in these threats, they would face consequences.

“The Congress government must not manipulate the sentiments of the people. While the BJP government was in power, they would reach out to us, and the CM would personally meet with us. Currently, we feel compelled to approach the legislators and the CM. We have resolved not to invite Congress MLAs from our community, as it could impede their advancement,” he remarked.

“The former BJP government failed to provide a proper reservation quota. The current administration has also been inactive. CM Siddaramaiah has not even extended basic courtesy by engaging with us. In contrast, the former CM from the BJP reached out to us for two hours. Yet, no commitment to the quota was made,” he noted.

“Both CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar have denied us appointments. We are now ready to stage a protest at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. I urge community members not to be swayed by any distractions. For the sake of future generations, it’s essential for everyone to participate in the agitation,” he appealed.

When questioned about his potential political aspirations, the seer stated his disinterest in politics.

"I won't be a king, I would be a king maker," he declared.

Previously, Kudalasangama Panchamasali Peeth seer Basavaraj Jaya Mruthyunjaya Swami warned that they intend to surround the Karnataka Assembly with 5,000 tractors, expressing dissatisfaction over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's lack of response to their demand for reservation for the Panchamasali Lingayats.
