BJP MLA from Karnataka Accuses Siddaramaiah Government of Favoritism in Panchamasali Lingayat Protest

Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 16 (NationPress) Expressing his frustration over the Siddaramaiah government's denial of the Panchamasali Lingayat community's right to protest regarding their reservation quota in Belagavi, BJP MLA and prominent leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal remarked that the current administration has become completely pro-Muslim.

In a conversation with reporters regarding the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan's firm refusal to permit the protest, Yatnal stated, “We will inquire with the Deputy Commissioner about his reasoning for denying the Panchamasali protest. Is there democracy in Belagavi, or does the Deputy Commissioner intend to implement Hitler’s regime? The Congress government seems to have an aversion to Hindu protests.”

He further accused the government, saying, “The administration perceives those Muslims who commit acts of arson as innocent, and they seem to hold them in high regard. Our Home Minister G. Parameshwara questions the farmers' protests while showing affection for law-breaking Muslims. They are dismissing all cases related to the K.G. Halli and D.J. Halli riots and violence incidents.”

“The Home Minister also indicated that all cases against Muslims and the Popular Front of India (PFI) would be withdrawn. Additionally, the Adijambava community, which is advocating for internal reservations, is also facing trouble as they have been denied permission to protest,” Yatnal pointed out.

“Dalits and backward communities are equally barred from protesting. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s favoritism towards Muslims is evident. He authorizes lathi-charges against other communities... The conspiracy orchestrated by CM Siddaramaiah will not succeed in the long term... In the upcoming elections, CM Siddaramaiah will understand how his policy of appeasing Muslims will backfire. The public will deliver a fitting response. This has transformed into a complete Muslim government. The Congress administration is staging a drama and engaging in blackmail. Congress leaders are implicated in an FIR against the protesters involved in the Panchamasali Lingayat reservation movement. This FIR is vague and lacks specific names. It will not hold up in court, and once the BJP regains power, this FIR will be annulled,” he asserted.

The Panchamasali Lingayat community organized a protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday to condemn the lathi charge on protesters near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha the previous Tuesday. Kudalasangama Panchamasali peeth seer Basava Jayamrutynjaya Swami had called for the protest.

In response to the denial of permission, the seer remarked that it is customary for the government to obstruct protests and emphasized his duty to protest. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should apologize, and the police officers responsible for the lathi charge should be suspended,” he demanded.

Meanwhile, BJP members in the Legislative Council gathered in the well of the House to protest against the lathi charge on the Panchamasali Lingayats, demanding an apology from the government.

The BJP members concluded their protest after the floor leader, Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology N. Boseraju, assured them that Home Minister G. Parameshwara would address the issue.

The Panchamasali Lingayats are seeking reservation under the 2A Category, which allocates 15 percent reservation for various backward communities. Currently, they are classified under the 3B Category, where low-income families can avail of reservations alongside all sects of Lingayats and other communities, including Christians.
