Mumbai, June 9 (NationPress) Renowned Indian director Partho Ghosh, celebrated for his works such as the Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit starrer “100 Days” and the film “Agni Sakshi” featuring Nana Patekar, has sadly passed away Monday morning at the age of 75.
The filmmaker succumbed to heart complications while residing in the Madh Island area of Mumbai. He leaves behind his wife, Gouri Ghosh.
Partho, who also made significant contributions to Bengali cinema, began his journey in Hindi films as an assistant director in 1985 with smaller productions.
His breakthrough came with the 1991 blockbuster “100 Days”, which featured Jackie, Madhuri, Moon Moon Sen, and Javed Jaffrey. The film's intriguing narrative revolves around a woman possessing extrasensory perception. It was a remake of the 1984 Tamil movie Nooravathu Naal, which itself was inspired by the 1977 Italian giallo film Sette note in nero.
The following year, he directed “Geet”, starring Avinash Wadhawan and Divya Bharti in leading roles.
