Bhubaneswar, June 20 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his congratulations to the government led by Mohan Charan Manjhi and the citizens of Odisha on the momentous occasion marking the one-year anniversary of the BJP administration in the state. He highlighted how this new leadership has heralded a transformative era of development, contrasting it with past regimes that neglected the populace while prioritizing their own enrichment.
During a public assembly following an impressive roadshow celebrating the inaugural anniversary of the BJP government, PM Modi asserted that the double-engine government is delivering dual advantages to the coastal state. He elaborated on two pivotal Central initiatives aimed at elevating the living conditions of the tribal populace.
“June 20 is a momentous day. Today marks the successful completion of one year of the first BJP government in Odisha. This anniversary symbolizes not just the government; it represents the establishment of good governance. This past year is dedicated to serving the public and fostering public trust. It stands as a remarkable year of sincere efforts to meet the expectations of millions of voters in Odisha,” said PM Modi.
He also touched on his recent visit to Canada for the G-7 Summit, emphasizing his decision to prioritize Odisha over an invitation from President Trump. “While in Canada, I received a dinner invitation from President Trump upon my return home. I turned it down, expressing that visiting the sacred land of Odisha and paying my respects to Lord Jagannath was of utmost importance to me,” PM Modi recounted, inciting enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
Discussing the dual benefits under the double-engine government, he noted: “The citizens of the state have long been deprived of numerous health schemes. Today, they are reaping the rewards of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana as well as the Jan Aarogya Yojana. More than 23 lakh senior citizens over the age of 70 are also benefitting from the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana.
PM Modi criticized the Congress model that plagued the nation for years, which was marked by corruption and inefficiency. He highlighted that in BJP-ruled states, a rejuvenated model of growth has emerged, focusing on public welfare.
He also provided examples from Assam and Tripura, illustrating how both states thrived after the BJP took charge, contrasting their previous struggles under past administrations.
PM Modi emphasized that prior to 2014, tribal communities were both marginalized and excluded from governance. With over 125 tribal regions affected by Maoist violence, previous governments failed to offer solutions, instead opting to stigmatize them as 'Maoist-affected.'
He pledged to combat Left-Wing Extremism and assured that the aspirations of the tribal population will be realized. “Two national schemes have been initiated to foster comprehensive development for both the underprivileged and tribal communities, which will immensely benefit local residents,” he concluded.
