New Delhi, March 6 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India's remarkable achievements are igniting a fresh wave of hope worldwide. Once regarded as a nation with limited prospects, India is now a key player in global economic growth. During an event at Bharat Mandapam, he remarked, “The world now recognizes this century as India's century, and our accomplishments have generated new global optimism.”
He highlighted that the trajectory of India's future is clear, citing the country's evolution from the eleventh-largest economy 65 years post-independence to becoming the fifth-largest in the past decade, with aspirations of reaching the third position.
PM Modi emphasized the importance of youth participation in national dialogue, stating that their involvement injects fresh perspectives and vitality into the discourse.
Reflecting on economic progress, he pointed out that back in 2007, India’s annual GDP touched $1 trillion, a figure that is now achieved in just a quarter, showcasing the rapid pace of growth.
In the past decade, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, which exceeds the populations of many countries. He recalled a time when only 15 paise of each rupee sent to the poor reached them, whereas now, over Rs 42 lakh crore has been directly transferred to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Highlighting India's advancements in solar energy, he noted, “We have become one of the top 5 countries in solar capacity, increasing it thirtyfold.” He also mentioned that India's toy exports have tripled, and defense exports have surged twentyfold over the past decade.
Further achievements include becoming the second-largest steel producer and the third-largest startup ecosystem. Capital expenditure on infrastructure has quintupled, and the number of operational AIIMS has tripled.
PM Modi stressed that today’s India envisions ambitious goals and achieves substantial results due to a shift in mindset. Previously, citizens accepted the status quo; now, they demand more, such as improved connectivity and international airports.
He asserted that a nation’s strength grows when barriers for its citizens are removed, allowing them to reach their full potential. The space sector, once tightly controlled, has now seen over 250 startups develop innovative technologies, including rockets.
In the mapping sector, restrictions have been lifted, enabling startups to thrive, while the nuclear energy sector is opening up to private investment, aiming for 100 gigawatts of capacity by 2047.
Focusing on national security, PM Modi remarked on the significant advancements made in the last decade, noting the absence of past threats such as bomb blasts on Indian soil. The situation with Left Wing Extremism (LWE) has improved drastically, with affected districts reduced from over a hundred to fewer than two dozen.
He concluded by stating that decisive government efforts have diminished Naxalism in rural areas, while it now presents challenges in urban settings.
