Mumbai, July 27 (NationPress) Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is garnering significant acclaim for his newly released streaming film ‘Sarzameen’, believes that the current challenging period for Hindi cinema is not a permanent situation.
During a promotional event in Mumbai, the actor shared insights with IANS, acknowledging the successful phase of Malayalam cinema while recognizing that such periods are transient. He remarked that the lull in Hindi cinema is similarly temporary.
Prithviraj commented, “It's important to remember that we too have faced struggles with content in the past. I've been around long enough to understand that nothing lasts forever. Currently, Malayalam cinema is thriving in terms of content creation, and while I hope this phase endures, I am realistic enough to know it won't. There will be ups and downs.”
The actor emphasized a critical lesson learned by the Malayalam film industry: “You must respect and trust the audience.”
He added, “Audiences are often more discerning than we give them credit for. If you choose a story and present it honestly, aligning with its true essence, the audience is likely to appreciate it.”
Prithviraj pointed out that issues arise when filmmakers prioritize project design over genuine filmmaking, a mistake not limited to Hindi cinema but also present in Malayalam films.
“We often err when we attempt to engineer projects rather than create authentic cinema. We've all made that error, and it's a cycle that will continue. Not every film in Malayalam is a masterpiece; we too have our less impressive days,” he elaborated.
