Mumbai, July 28 (NationPress) Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has been garnering significant acclaim for his recently released streaming film ‘Sarzameen’, showcases his ability to transition between different facets of his artistry.
While his acting skills have earned him widespread recognition, Prithviraj is also a talented director. However, he emphasizes that the director within him is only active when he is in the director's chair, making decisions. In projects where he collaborates with other directors, he fully disengages from his directorial instincts.
In a recent conversation with IANS regarding ‘Sarzameen’, Prithviraj stated, “I directed my first film in 2018. Now, I have enough experience to clearly differentiate between my roles as an actor and a filmmaker. The most significant change for me after stepping into directorial roles is my ability to completely turn off my technical mindset when acting. I truly enjoy that aspect.”
‘Sarzameen’ is the directorial debut of actor Kayoze Irani. Prithviraj shared that as an actor, he prefers to align with a director and support their vision rather than imposing his own directorial viewpoint.
He explained, “I appreciate the process of arriving on set, grasping the director’s expectations, and realizing their vision, thereby becoming a tool to help realize that vision. That is my mission as an actor. While it's uncertain whether the audience will enjoy the film or my performance, what I can control happens during the film's creation.”
“Thus, when I am on set as an actor, there is a clear distinction in my mind, and I consciously choose not to delve into the directorial process,” he concluded.
