Mumbai, Feb 1 (NationPress) Renowned for his captivating screen presence and remarkable acting prowess, filmmaker-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran admits he has never regarded himself as exceptionally handsome. He expressed that his Hindi film debut, Aiyya, was a refreshing experience because it highlighted his appearance.

“I've never perceived myself as a very attractive individual. Moreover, the type of cinema I engage in doesn't often center on my looks, which made my first film feel quite refreshing,” Prithviraj shared with IANS.

“In Aiyya, the narrative revolved around my form from the neck down, which was an intriguing approach for me because I never thought I could be captured so objectively,” he mentioned.

The actor acknowledged that in Aiyya, featuring Rani Mukerji and released in 2012, his appearance was indeed the focal point.

“Perhaps that was the only movie predominantly focused on my looks. Generally, the films I choose do not emphasize my appearance,” he noted.

He continued: “Thus, I have not been consistently led to believe that I am this exceptionally handsome man. If women find me appealing, I appreciate it. However, I would prefer they find my work appealing instead.”

Released in 2012, Aiyya narrates the tale of an eccentric woman, Meenakshi, who encounters a Tamil artist named Surya and is immediately drawn to him.

Prithviraj is currently preparing for the launch of his action thriller directorial, L2: Empuraan. This film is the second part of a planned trilogy, following the 2019 movie Lucifer. It is co-produced by Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas.

The film stars Mohanlal alongside Prithviraj, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, Fazil, and Sachin Khedekar, reprising their roles from the original.

L2: Empuraan is set to be released on March 27.
