Chennai, Jan 27 (NationPress) Malayalam actor and director Prithviraj Sukumaran recently revealed that he was approached by Subaskaran, the founder of the renowned Tamil film production company Lyca Productions, to helm a film starring the legendary Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.

During the teaser launch of his highly anticipated Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj stated, “I have been given the honor of introducing Lyca Productions to Malayalam cinema. This is their inaugural project in this industry. It’s quite a story. I can now confirm that Subaskaran initially contacted me with the proposal to direct a film for Lyca Productions featuring Rajinikanth sir.”

The actor-director further explained that he struggled to develop a concept as he is primarily a part-time director.

“The opportunity was exceptionally valuable for a budding director like myself, and I made every effort to create a suitable narrative. They certainly had a schedule in mind. Subaskaran sir wanted the project to materialize within a specific timeframe. Unfortunately, I couldn’t manage it due to my part-time directing commitments. However, this led to the beginning of a friendship, and I always make it a point to meet Subaskaran sir whenever I visit London,” Prithviraj shared.

Prithviraj pointed out that his bond with Lyca Productions and Subaskaran resulted in two significant developments.

“Firstly, Lyca Productions expressed their desire for me to act in one of their films. An incredibly ambitious project is on the horizon,” Prithviraj expressed, noting that the discussion shifted to how he could be involved in his own film L2: Empuraan.

Consequently, Lyca Productions, one of the leading production houses in South India, is gearing up to penetrate the Malayalam film industry with the much-anticipated project, L2E Empuraan.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film features Mohanlal in the lead role, marking their third successful collaboration as director and actor after the blockbuster hits, Lucifer and Bro Daddy.

The L2 Empuraan teaser showcases an abandoned town in Northern Iraq named Qaraqosh, introducing the character Steven Nedumpally, a savior with a complex and mysterious persona as Ab'raam Qureshi, who leads Asia’s most powerful mercenary group. The film promises action-packed sequences with grand visuals, exploring themes of power, betrayal, and control through the lens of political intrigue and the mercenary world.
