New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) Filmmaker-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has emphasized the significance of the technicians on his film sets, referring to them as the best globally and labeling them as “superstars.”
In a conversation with IANS about the recognition of film technicians in South cinema, Prithviraj remarked, “Cinema is always a team sport. An actor's performance is only as good as that of their co-actors. Moreover, an actor can shine in a film only if the director allows them to do so.”
He stated that a “great performance” requires to be captured proficiently for the audience to appreciate it fully.
As he prepares for the release of his film “L2: Empuraan,” he noted that a “great performance can be made to look mediocre” if not shot correctly.
“The technicians operating behind the camera possess immense influence over how the content is presented. As I mentioned on stage yesterday, I believe I have the world's best team.”
He praised those who contributed to his directorial works like “Lucifer” and “L2: Empuraan,” stating, “My chief technicians are world-class. You might not recognize their names in Bombay, but to me, they are superstars.”

He expressed strong confidence in having a team capable of managing projects of any scale, anywhere globally, and insisted on having them with him on stage, emphasizing, “Without them, I couldn’t have achieved this.”
Prithviraj is convinced that if he “changes one of them” and replaces them with someone else, “there's going to be a difference in this film.”
“I’m uncertain whether it would improve or worsen the film, but it’s clear that the result I have achieved wouldn’t be possible without each of them. On my set, from my associate director to my cinematographer to my production team, each one has equal ownership over the film,” he explained.
Prithviraj revealed that he conducts film editing on location in real-time.
“Everyone is invited to watch. When you visit my location in the evenings after we wrap up, you'll see everyone, including the production team and drivers, gathering to view the scenes we’ve shot that day.”
