What Will PM Modi’s 3-Nation Tour Achieve?

New Delhi, June 15 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his departure for a significant three-nation tour encompassing Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia. He emphasized that this journey serves as a key opportunity to enhance global consensus on addressing terrorism in all its dimensions.

In a message shared on his official X account, PM Modi stated: "I am setting off today on a three-nation journey to the Republic of Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia. My visit to Cyprus on June 15-16 is at the invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides. Cyprus is a valued friend and a crucial partner within the Mediterranean region and the EU. This visit will allow us to reinforce our historical connections and broaden our collaboration in trade, investment, security, technology, and foster people-to-people ties."

After Cyprus, the Prime Minister will head to Kananaskis, Canada, to participate in the G7 Summit upon the invitation of Prime Minister Mark Carney, as stated in his message on X.

The Summit will create a platform for dialogue on urgent global concerns and the priorities of the Global South. PM Modi expressed his anticipation to engage with leaders from allied nations in this context.

On June 18, he will visit the Republic of Croatia to meet with President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. The historical ties between our two nations span centuries, and this marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, paving the way for new opportunities in bilateral cooperation.

This three-nation tour also serves as an occasion to express gratitude to partner nations for their unwavering support in India's battle against cross-border terrorism, while also promoting global cooperation on this issue, as articulated by PM Modi.

While addressing the G7 Summit in Canada, which will be his sixth consecutive attendance, PM Modi remarked that it provides a valuable opportunity to discuss various global challenges and highlight the priorities of the Global South.

The Indian Prime Minister's journey will officially commence with a visit to Cyprus from June 15 to 16, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to this nation in over twenty years.

Manish, the High Commissioner of India to Cyprus, noted the historic significance of this visit, highlighting its potential impact on trade, technology, tourism, and investment, along with discussions on defense and security, as well as international and regional dialogues.

He will meet with President Nikos Christodoulides and engage with business leaders in Limassol.

Cyprus condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack and indicated its intention to address the issue of cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan during discussions at the EU level.

This visit occurs at a time when Cyprus is preparing to assume the presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.

This tour will reaffirm our mutual commitment to deepen bilateral relations and enhance India's strategic engagement with the Mediterranean and the European Union, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

PM Modi will continue his tour from Cyprus to Canada for the G7 Summit from June 16 to 17, before concluding with an official visit to Croatia on June 18.

In Kananaskis, he is set to meet with Mark Carney, with additional bilateral meetings being planned, as reported by official sources.

This visit to Cyprus holds further significance amid India's ongoing tensions with Turkey, which has been supportive of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Canada on June 16, shortly after the G7 Summit inauguration.

During the summit, he will engage with leaders from G7 nations and other invited outreach countries on critical global matters, including energy security and innovation, particularly surrounding the AI-energy nexus and Quantum technology.

Finally, PM Modi will visit Croatia on June 18, marking a milestone as the first Indian Prime Minister to do so, thereby strengthening ties with a significant European partner.

The visit to Croatia will also highlight India's resolve to enhance partnerships within the European Union.
