Belagavi (Karnataka), Jan 18 (NationPress) In response to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation revealing unlawful allocations to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s family by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar remarked on Saturday that this is a political conspiracy aimed at Siddaramaiah and his relatives.
During a media briefing in Belagavi, when questioned about the ED's findings related to alleged misconduct in the MUDA investigation, Shivakumar stated, “Legal proceedings take time. It is up to the judiciary to determine if any misconduct has occurred, not us. While I have been following the ED investigation, I will refrain from commenting further.”
“There is a political conspiracy against the Chief Minister and his family. Neither the Chief Minister nor his wife has engaged in any wrongdoing. Let’s set this aside and concentrate on the state’s issues,” Shivakumar asserted.
On this matter, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), IT and BT Priyank Kharge commented on Saturday in Bengaluru, “The actions are being conducted in accordance with the law. Let the investigation proceed; Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar share the same perspective. We are neither obstructing nor interfering with the investigation.”
“The focus is on the entire MUDA process, not solely on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s 14 properties. Let the inquiry cover everything that transpired over the past decade,” Minister Kharge explained.
Discussing the upcoming unveiling of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Belagavi to honor the centenary of the ‘Father of the Nation’ leading the AICC, Dy CM Shivakumar stated, “Legislators from all parties, along with freedom fighters, will be invited to the inauguration ceremony at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. The District Commissioners will oversee the arrangements.”
He reviewed the venue near the Gandhi statue and mentioned, “This government event will be conducted under the Chief Minister’s leadership. In the esteemed presence of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, the statue will be unveiled by AICC President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge.”
“The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Chairperson of the Legislative Council will also attend the program. All-party legislators are invited. Following the event, a group photograph of all legislators will be taken. Subsequently, the Chief Minister will host a luncheon for guests and invitees. Besides legislators, notable families including Gangadhar Deshpande’s family have also been invited,” he concluded.
