Seoul, March 31 (NationPress) The temporary leader of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) on Monday urged the Constitutional Court to promptly render its decision regarding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Representative Kwon Young-se made this appeal as the court continues to deliberate on Yoon's situation, 34 days after concluding the hearings. As reported by Yonhap news agency, no date has been established for the ruling on Yoon's impeachment.

“Acting court President Moon Hyung-bae should cease any further delays and issue a ruling without hesitation based on the stances of each justice,” Kwon stated following a session of the PPP's emergency leadership committee.

Yoon was impeached on December 14 due to his unsuccessful attempt to enforce martial law.

The reinstatement of former President Roh Moo-hyun took 63 days, while former President Park Geun-hye was removed from office after 92 days following the approval of their impeachment motions.

With 107 days elapsed since Yoon's impeachment, the court has yet to reach a conclusion on the matter. The terms of two judges appointed by the previous administration will conclude on April 18.

The court is currently composed of an eight-member bench, and at least six standing judges must agree to sustain Yoon's impeachment.

Kwon also criticized the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) for exerting pressure regarding the appointment of the opposition-recommended Justice candidate Ma Eun-hyuk.

On Sunday, DP floor leader Park Chan-dae indicated that his party would take “significant” action if acting President Han Duck-soo does not appoint Ma by Tuesday, hinting at a potential second impeachment attempt against Han, as well as against Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and other Cabinet officials.
