President Murmu Highlights the Struggles of the Underprivileged Due to Judicial Delays

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu stated on Thursday that the underprivileged individuals in the country face the most significant challenges because of the culture of adjournment prevalent in our judicial system.
While inaugurating the new Judicial Court Complex in Bhubaneswar, President Murmu remarked: "If justice is not delivered in a timely manner, it is akin to not receiving justice at all. The poor are the most affected by the culture of adjournment. They lack the financial resources and manpower to frequently attend court sessions."
The President expressed optimism that all involved parties would prioritize finding solutions to eliminate the culture of adjournment for the benefit of the common populace.
Additionally, she highlighted that language remains a significant barrier, as many individuals do not comprehend the arguments made by lawyers or the opinions expressed by judges in court.
President Murmu was pleased to observe that court rulings are now being translated into Odia and Santhali languages, making these translations accessible on the websites of both the Supreme Court and the Orissa High Court.
She also underscored the importance of women-led development, noting that, similar to other sectors, the participation of women in the judiciary should be increased.
Currently, she noted that the Odisha Judicial Service comprises 48 percent female officers, and expressed her belief that this number will rise in the future.
The President mentioned that enabling ordinary citizens to engage with the judicial system without fear is a crucial concern. Many individuals feel intimidated when interacting with lawyers and judges, thus it is essential to cultivate a sensitive atmosphere in courts where they can express themselves openly.
She expressed satisfaction with the adoption of new technologies to expedite the justice process in the country. President Murmu is confident that the modern facilities within the court complex will facilitate the effective functioning of the judicial community.
