Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) A wave of outrage surged across India on Tuesday following the brutal murder of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment factory worker in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, amid rampant atrocities against minorities under the regime of Muhammad Yunus.
Protests erupted from Delhi to Kolkata, Bhopal, and Hyderabad, as Hindu groups took to the streets to voice their anger over the targeted violence against Hindus in the neighboring country.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal organized significant gatherings outside the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, as well as in other states, to express their outrage over the Islamist mob that mercilessly beat Dipu Chandra Das to death last week.
The 25-year-old Hindu worker, dragged through the streets and violently beaten to death by an enraged mob, was accused of blasphemy by a co-worker. Following this accusation, the mob, composed of radicals and extremists, stormed the factory, seized him, and executed him brutally.
In Delhi, hundreds gathered outside the Bangladesh High Commission, chanting slogans and condemning the horrific treatment inflicted upon Dipu Das. With saffron flags waving and cries against the Yunus administration echoing, they advanced toward the diplomatic enclave, breaking through barricades in a demand for justice.
Many demonstrators displayed banners, placards, and even burned effigies representing Bangladesh’s interim leader, Muhammad Yunus.
"Hindus are facing oppression in Bangladesh, and even here in our own nation, they are being selectively targeted and killed. Our women are under attack. The principles of our Sanatan Dharma urge us to coexist peacefully; we do not resort to violence against anyone," asserted a protestor as he was taken away by police.
Law enforcement faced challenges in controlling the massive protests, as demonstrators demanded accountability for Dipu’s murderers and criticized the Bangladesh government for allegedly colluding with the aggressors.
In West Bengal, numerous individuals from various Hindu organizations convened outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission to protest this heinous act.
Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Hindu Jagaran Manch, and Bangiya Hindu Jagaran marched toward the mission in the Beck Bagan area of Kolkata, leading to a confrontation with the police.
They insisted on delivering a memorandum to the Deputy High Commission, but police prevented them from progressing further. The situation escalated as police resorted to lathi-charges to disperse the crowd.
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the Mamata Banerjee government for suppressing public dissent and obstructing peaceful demonstrations by Hindu groups.
“We vehemently condemn the brutal actions taken by the state government and police against the peaceful protests by Hindu organizations in West Bengal today. It appears that while Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh engages in targeted violence against Hindus, the Trinamool Congress government is enforcing targeted actions against Hindus,” he stated.
In Madhya Pradesh, VHP members organized a march protesting the oppression of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, demanding the Yunus government take decisive action against the mob responsible for Dipu Das’s death.
During a ‘Virodh Aakrosh Prashan’ march through the streets of Bhopal, they also destroyed an effigy symbolizing 'jihadi forces' and set it ablaze.
In Jammu and Kashmir, members of the Dogra community took to the streets protesting against the atrocities committed against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, garlanding a poster of Muhammad Yunus with shoes while chanting slogans.
In Telangana, VHP and other Hindu groups held demonstrations against the ongoing attacks on minorities, demanding that the authorities identify Dipu Das’s killers and ensure justice is served swiftly.
