New Delhi, May 19 (NationPress) A comprehensive nationwide survey carried out by IANS-Matrize News Communications has showcased remarkable public backing for the Modi administration's military actions following the Pakistan-backed terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The covert operation, known as Operation Sindoor, has garnered extensive approval and substantially bolstered Prime Minister Narendra Modi's standing both domestically and globally, as per the survey results.
The poll, conducted between May 9 and 15 across various Assembly constituencies, engaged 7,463 participants from around India. The results indicate that 66 percent believe Operation Sindoor was entirely successful in delivering a strong message to Pakistan, while 18 percent view it as partially effective. Only 9 percent felt it did not succeed at all.
When queried about the significance of crossing into the territory of a nuclear-armed nation like Pakistan, 72 percent of respondents characterized it as a “major success of the century,” and 78 percent agreed that India successfully breached Pakistan's nuclear deterrent.
The findings also underscore the operation's influence on India's international reputation. 73 percent believe India's global image has improved, and 69 percent feel that Prime Minister Modi’s personal image on the world stage has also enhanced. Additionally, 74 percent indicated that PM Modi’s popularity among citizens has risen following the operation.
Despite opposition parties raising concerns regarding the operation, 57 percent of respondents dismissed these critiques as politically motivated. A similar 57 percent believe the opposition is leveraging Operation Sindoor for political advantage, while only 27 percent deemed the criticisms valid.
Interestingly, 45 percent disagreed with the opposition's call for a special session of Parliament, whereas 33 percent supported it.
The survey uncovered strong public confidence in the government's counter-terrorism efforts, with 92 percent asserting that the current administration is capable of decisive anti-terror action, and 84 percent stating that the operation has bolstered their trust in both the Indian Army and the government.
