Jaipur, Dec 27 (NationPress) Following the instructions from Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, a comprehensive joint initiative is set to commence against illegal mining, transportation, and storage operations across 20 districts of the Aravalli mountain range from December 29, 2025, to January 15, 2026, as indicated by government officials on Saturday.
This coordinated effort will be executed by the Mines, Revenue, Police, Transport, and Forest departments under the oversight of district collectors.
The operation underscores the state's government’s zero-tolerance policy towards illegal mining.
During a joint meeting of the Mines and Forest departments on Saturday, Chief Minister Sharma emphasized the necessity for decisive actions against unlawful mining activities.
He encouraged an “action mode” approach and directed officials to ensure tangible and effective outcomes.
The Rajasthan Principal Secretary of the Mines Department, T. Ravikant, engaged with senior mining engineers at the Secretariat and communicated the Chief Minister's directives, stressing that illegal mining must be entirely eradicated from the state.
In accordance with these directives, a decision was made to initiate a coordinated operation involving five departments across the 20 Aravalli districts.
Ravikant noted that the campaign will address all facets of illegal mining, including unlawful extraction, transportation, and storage.
With the guidance of district collectors, the operation will be executed with close inter-departmental collaboration.
Officials have been tasked with organizing Special Investigation Team (SIT) meetings promptly, chaired by district collectors.
Ravikant also emphasized that actions should not be confined to intercepting illegal transportation alone but must also aim to identify and tackle the sources and locations of these illegal operations to eradicate the issue at its roots.
“Districts heavily impacted by illegal mining will have vulnerable hotspots identified, where stringent actions, including the seizure of machinery, will be carried out.”
Explicit instructions have been given that no leniency will be tolerated during this campaign, and the strictest actions as per law must be enforced.
The operation will be continuously monitored from the Udaipur headquarters and at the level of the Principal Secretary of the Mines Department.
Accountability for officers will be established, and any negligence will not be accepted.
Officials have also been instructed to publicize the actions taken during the campaign through media channels to convey a strong message regarding the state government's firm stance against illegal mining activities.
