Jaipur, March 13 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma emphasized on Friday that farmers are the essence of the nation.
He acknowledged their significant role, mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has deposited the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi into the bank accounts of millions of farming households.
In Rajasthan alone, more than 66.76 lakh farmers have benefited from a total exceeding Rs 1,355 crore.
Sharma asserted that the state government is unwaveringly supportive of farmers in all circumstances.
He stated that farmers have consistently been a primary concern for PM Modi, noting that under his guidance, a new approach has emerged in agricultural policies.
He remarked that farmers are now acknowledged as the real backbone of the nation.
Moreover, he highlighted that the Prime Minister is dedicated to enhancing farmers' well-being, with numerous initiatives launched to achieve this, notably the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which stands out as a key program.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the state government is diligently working to protect farmers' interests and ensure their welfare.
Under the Chief Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in the state, eligible farmers can receive an extra honorarium of Rs 3,000 annually from the state.
He indicated that the government plans to gradually increase this amount, ultimately aiming for Rs 12,000.
Additionally, the Crop Insurance Scheme is providing compensation for crop losses at a rate higher than that of the former administration. To date, insurance claims amounting to Rs 6,473 crore have been disbursed across the state.
Sharma noted that prioritizing farmers' welfare, the state government has allocated Rs 1,19,408 crore for agriculture in the 2026–27 budget, reflecting a historic 34 percent increase compared to the previous government's final budget of 2023-24.
Furthermore, under the Chief Minister Mangala Livestock Insurance Scheme, free insurance policies have been provided for over 16 lakh livestock, with claims being settled promptly.
Additionally, 536 mobile veterinary units are operating to deliver services in villages throughout the state.
