New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) Indian women’s national hockey team members Beauty Dung Dung and Sangita Kumari are filled with excitement at the chance to play alongside Agustina Albertario and Agostina Alonso, two renowned players from Argentina. This opportunity arises as they represent the Ranchi Royals in the second season of the Women’s Hockey India League (HIL), which kicks off on December 28.

Argentina’s hockey team achieved remarkable success, securing a silver medal at the 2022 Tokyo Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The two young Indian players are eager to learn from their Argentine counterparts.

Expressing their admiration for the experienced Argentine stars joining the Ranchi Royals, Sangita stated, “The Argentine players possess a wealth of experience, particularly Agustina Albertario and Agostina Alonso. They are exceptional athletes, and I am thrilled to share the dressing room with them.”

Beauty added, “They have played numerous matches and have so much experience that we can gain insights from. Our interactions with them will be beneficial.”

Sangita and Beauty are also looking forward to showcasing their skills at home in Ranchi as they prepare for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers in Hyderabad.

As the Ranchi Royals gear up for the HIL, starting on December 28, these talented Jharkhand players are buzzing with enthusiasm at the chance to represent their home franchise.

Having made their international debut in 2021, Sangita has netted 30 goals, while Beauty has contributed six, marking their impressive journeys. They are now set to embark on an exciting adventure with the Ranchi Royals in the HIL.

Sangita expressed, “Playing at my home ground is a proud moment. Representing the Ranchi Royals makes it even more special, especially with my family cheering from the stands.”

Having been part of the Indian team that clinched a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sangita is eagerly anticipating the league's commencement.

Beauty echoed Sangita's excitement about representing their hometown, saying, “Whenever we play in Ranchi, the audience is packed with hockey enthusiasts. We will strive to win for our home ground.”

Beauty highlighted the significant role the HIL plays in providing a platform for young players to compete with top international talent.

“As juniors, we often wondered about opportunities to play at higher levels, but this league allows us to learn from elite players globally,” she noted. “Women’s hockey is progressing, and we aim to elevate it further through this league.”

The two athletes discussed the value of interactions with international players in enhancing their skills. Sangita stated, “There’s much we can learn from the foreign players, and they can gain insights from us as well.”

“Initially, we were hesitant, but now we confidently approach the international players for advice, especially when we face challenges in executing skills,” Beauty mentioned.

With fellow talented players like Sakshi Rana and Kanika Siwach joining them, the Ranchi Royals are well-equipped after the recently concluded Junior Women’s World Cup in Chile. Sangita advised the newcomers to savor the experience. “Enjoying the game is key for the young players joining us. They should trust their technique and skills,” she emphasized.

The Women’s Hockey India League is set to commence on December 28, with the Ranchi Royals facing off against the SG Pipers.
