Mumbai, March 22 (NationPress) Actor and accomplished equestrian Randeep Hooda has made his long-awaited return to horseback riding after enduring over two years of rehabilitation following a serious knee injury he sustained while working on his debut directorial venture, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
With his return to the saddle, there are growing hopes that Randeep may soon re-enter the competitive riding scene. As he stated, “There is no life without sports, and there is no sport without competition.”
The injury transpired when the film faced initial delays due to financial issues, resulting in multiple ligament tears in his knee, necessitating an extensive recovery process.
On reflecting about his recovery journey, he remarked: "Like life, just like horse riding, one must get back in the saddle despite the challenges and setbacks."
Randeep underwent a significant physical transformation for Veer Savarkar, which included substantial weight loss for the role, leading to a perilous fall while riding. He ultimately completed Veer Savarkar using his own funds, filming demanding sequences while wearing knee braces, and even running in some scenes, which exacerbated his injury further.
He took to Instagram to share footage of his fall along with memorable moments from his directorial debut Swantantrya Veer Savarkar.
“Three years ago, I embarked on an unforgettable journey with Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which was released a year ago today, a film that transformed me in ways I never anticipated. From co-writing, directing, producing, to portraying the role of Veer Savarkar, it was a labor filled with love, passion, and sacrifice,” he expressed.
He continued: “The physical suffering from shooting with a fractured knee, the emotional highs and lows, and the exhausting weight loss endeavor all contributed to this experience. Yet, what made it truly remarkable was the overwhelming love and support from my friends, cast, and crew—who rallied around me, even when I was a ‘hangry’ director.”
He noted that Swantantrya Veer Savarkar has been more than just a film; it has been a life-altering experience.
“I am grateful to everyone who believed in me, and to the audience for welcoming this story with open hearts. Forever thankful for this chapter in my life.”
