Mumbai, Aug 1 (NationPress) Bollywood actor and filmmaker Randeep Hooda has disclosed that he derives his greatest creative satisfaction from writing, as it provides a sense of liberation and lacks pressure.
“The most creative fulfillment you find is when you write because at that time, there is no other pressure and you're really pulling something out of thin air and putting it on paper, which I have found the most liberating creative experience,” Randeep mentioned in a conversation with IANS.
However, he acknowledged that as an actor, he relishes the chance to concentrate entirely on performance.
“But as an actor, I'm primarily an actor and I find, as an actor, you can just concentrate on the finer things and not worry about the management, which is a huge part of being a director,” he remarked.
Randeep made his debut in direction with the 2024 biographical film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which chronicles the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. He has directed, co-written, and co-produced the film, where he also stars as the titular character.
This film provides an in-depth biographical account of Savarkar from his childhood, capturing significant events in his life while often portraying the central character in a near-reverent light.
On the cinematic front, Randeep is set to appear in “Matchbox,” an upcoming American action-comedy film directed by Sam Hargrave.
Based on the toy brand of the same name, the film features stars like John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, Teyonah Parris, Randeep, Danai Gurira, and Corey Stoll. Scheduled for release in fall 2026, this film is highly anticipated.
Additionally, Randeep has the epic war drama “Operation Khukri” in the pipeline.
He has acquired the rights to the film adaptation of “Operation Khukri: The Untold Story of the Indian Army’s Bravest Peacekeeping Mission Abroad” by Major General Rajpal Punia and Damini Punia.
This film will depict the harrowing true events of 2000, when 233 Indian soldiers were taken hostage by rebel forces in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the subsequent daring rescue mission that ensued.
