Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Raipur, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not be playing at their usual venue, Chinnaswamy Stadium, for the home matches. Instead, they are set to hold games in alternative locations, and it's been announced that two of these matches will take place in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
This exciting update was shared by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai via a post on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.
During a public event in Kharora within the Raipur district, the Chief Minister made this announcement, emphasizing the quality of the cricket infrastructure in the state.
"Our cricket stadium in Chhattisgarh is exceptional, and many elite players, including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, have praised its facilities. You may have recently witnessed a match there, and I have been informed that more games will follow. I recently met with the CEO and other officials from RCB, and we agreed on hosting two IPL matches in Chhattisgarh," he stated.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister convened a meeting with Prabhtej Singh, joint-secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Rajesh Menon, vice-president of RCB, in Raipur, where they discussed potential matches and other related topics.
During this meeting, local officials highlighted that New Raipur boasts a world-class stadium that has previously hosted international matches and is set to welcome a T20I match against New Zealand on January 23.
Additionally, RCB officials presented a team jersey to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai during the meeting.
The complete match schedule for IPL 2026 will be released by the IPL Governing Council soon. Apart from RCB, the Rajasthan Royals are also exploring options to play at various venues instead of their home ground, the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur.
