Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (NationPress) The Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department announced on Wednesday its plan to restore the ancestral home of Nobel laureate and poet Rabindranath Tagore in Puri and transform it into a museum.
An official statement released on Wednesday revealed that crucial decisions, including the restoration of 'Pather Puri', Tagore's ancestral residence, were made during a high-level review meeting chaired by Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
“The ancestral home of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, 'Pather Puri', situated in Puri, will undergo restoration and be developed into a museum honoring the legacy of this great poet,” stated the Odisha Culture Department.
Moreover, during the meeting, it was resolved that esteemed Odia writers and their literary works would be highlighted at a theme pavilion during the upcoming Bali Jatra festival in Cuttack, commencing on November 5.
The department also announced plans to invite Indonesia as the Partner Country for this year’s Bali Jatra event. “Indonesia will be welcomed as the Partner Country for this year's festivities. Additionally, an Indian state will be invited as the Partner State under the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative. Cultural troupes from various South Asian nations will also be invited to perform their traditional acts,” the department elaborated.
In another significant move, the Department aims to accelerate the recruitment process for all vacant positions at Culture University, Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts, and Govt. College of Art and Crafts, Khalikote. Following financial support for Dhenkanal’s Gajalaxmi Puja, the Culture Department will also extend its assistance to the Kendrapara Gajalaxmi Puja festival.
The State Archaeology will spearhead the restoration and conservation of the Kalidas Temple in the Kendrapara district. According to the official statement, the Culture Department has instructed the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) to hasten the construction of the Odia Asmita Bhawan, located near the Sainik School in Bhubaneswar.
