New Delhi, June 16 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva along with other party MPs from the capital faced detention on Monday while advancing towards the Bangladesh High Commission to voice their outrage over vandalism at the ancestral residence of Nobel laureate and Bharat Ratna Rabindranath Tagore in Bangladesh.
The group assembled at the Prime Minister’s Museum near Teen Murti Chowk and proceeded towards the Bangladesh High Commission in Chanakyapuri, breaching two police barricades in the process.
They were halted by a significant police presence and subsequently taken to Chanakyapuri Police Station, where they were held for approximately 30 minutes before being released with a caution.
Sachdeva emphasized that the protest was aimed at the intentional assault and destruction of Tagore's ancestral home, known as Rabindra Kachharibari or Rabindra Memorial Museum.
He stated, “The national anthems composed by Tagore resonate in both India and Bangladesh. The intentional demolition of his ancestral house is not merely an assault on a structure but an affront to Bengali culture and Hindu heritage.”
