New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) The Union Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is poised to kick off the sixth International Agronomy Congress (IAC–2025) — recognized as the largest global assembly of agronomists, agricultural professionals, policymakers, and development collaborators, right in the heart of the national capital.

The congress is scheduled to take place at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Pusa, New Delhi, from November 24-26.

India is establishing itself as a frontrunner in climate-smart, resilient, and sustainable agricultural methodologies. This event will highlight the accomplishments of various significant government initiatives, such as the National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), Soil Health Card Scheme, PM-PRANAM (Mother Earth Programme), Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM), National Mission on Natural Farming, and PM-Kisan.

Hosted by the Indian Society of Agronomy (ISA), this three-day event is organized in partnership with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), and the Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS).

This year's theme — ‘Re-envisioning Agronomy for Smart Agro-Food Systems and Environmental Protection’ — underscores the critical need to develop future-oriented agricultural frameworks that are more productive, climate-resilient, environmentally sustainable, and nutrition-secure.

Representatives from various international organizations, including FAO, CIMMYT, ICRISAT, ICARDA, IRRI, and IFDC, along with vice chancellors of agricultural universities, ICAR Deputy Directors General, industry stakeholders, and leading agri-business innovators, are anticipated to participate.

With an expected turnout of over 1,000 global delegates, the congress promises to be a remarkable platform for high-level scientific discussions.

The agenda will include plenary sessions, thematic symposia, keynote lectures, poster presentations, an exhibition, and a conference for young scientists and students.

Topics for discussion will span areas such as carbon-neutral agriculture, eco-nutrition, regenerative agriculture, digital agricultural systems, farmer-led innovation ecosystems, and agricultural education programs.
