Chamoli, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi scheme has emerged as a pivotal support mechanism for the inhabitants of Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, granting them access to high-quality medications at remarkably reduced prices. Initiated by the Central government to promote affordable healthcare nationwide, the scheme is demonstrating a profound impact in the area.

In Chamoli, Jan Aushadhi Kendras are assisting residents in saving between 50 and 90 percent on vital medicines.

At the Jan Aushadhi Kendra located within the sub-district hospital in Karnaprayag, many patients visit daily to acquire inexpensive generic drugs. Locals affirm that the medicines available here are not only budget-friendly but also trustworthy in quality.

Numerous patients expressed that exorbitant market prices had previously hindered their treatment, but the Jan Aushadhi outlet has become a lifeline, enabling them to obtain essential medications at a fraction of the cost.

The scheme offers medications for serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and various infections at significantly discounted prices at government-operated centers. This has provided substantial financial relief for low-income and middle-class families who often find prolonged treatment unaffordable.

In addition to alleviating the financial burden on patients, the Jan Aushadhi initiative is creating new job opportunities for young entrepreneurs. The centers are fostering local employment and enhancing community access to essential healthcare services.

In Chamoli, the scheme is fortifying the district’s healthcare infrastructure by ensuring that residents receive affordable, high-quality medications and improved health protection.

Speaking to IANS, Shivani Joshi, a pharmacist at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Karnaprayag sub-district hospital, remarked: "The Jan Aushadhi scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is incredibly beneficial. Medicines for ailments like diabetes are available at very low prices. Drugs that cost Rs 100-150 outside are sold here for just Rs 10-15."

A beneficiary, Manoj Dimri, stated that the scheme has made expensive medications accessible to everyone. "Medicines that are pricey in the market are available here at very low rates," he noted.

Another beneficiary, Milan, added: "I came to purchase medications at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra because the drugs here are both high in quality and affordable. We cannot easily afford expensive medications, so this scheme is extremely helpful. It is a fantastic initiative by the Central government."
