New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to enhancing the lives of everyday citizens is yielding impressive results, particularly through his initiative of establishing 'Jan Aushadhi Kendra' nationwide for providing quality healthcare at reasonable costs. Recently, a new Jan Aushadhi Kendra was opened in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, where numerous individuals are already reaping the benefits of this program. The facility provides top-notch medications at prices ranging from 10% to 70% lower than standard market rates, offering substantial relief to the local populace.
This initiative is designed to guarantee that every individual, irrespective of their financial status, can access critical medications at dramatically reduced costs. These centers have become essential for many, particularly those belonging to lower and middle-income groups, allowing them to save considerably on medical expenses.
Naveen Jain, a resident of Vikas Nagar in Neemuch, shared his appreciation, stating, "At the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, medications are priced 10% to 70% lower than the market rate. This has led to significant savings for us. It is a remarkable initiative, especially for those in the lower and middle-income segments, and we look forward to seeing more such centers providing affordable medicines in the future."
The initiative’s success can be credited to its manager, pharmacist Govind Jaiswal, who underscored the scheme's role in enhancing healthcare accessibility. He noted, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced a program that guarantees the provision of high-quality medications at affordable rates for everyone, marking a vital advancement towards accessible healthcare for all. At this center, patrons enjoy discounts of up to 70%. This initiative has been especially beneficial for senior citizens, many of whom previously spent between Rs 2,500 and Rs 3,000 monthly on medications. Now, they can acquire the same medicines for as little as Rs 1,000."
Govind further highlighted the positive influence of the center on the community, stating, "We take pride in having established this Jan Aushadhi Kendra on Gayatri Mandir Road in Neemuch, where individuals can obtain medications that would otherwise be financially out of reach for many."
To ensure that quality generic medicines are accessible at affordable prices to everyone, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was initiated in November 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India in collaboration with Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings.
Through this scheme, dedicated outlets known as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJK) are established to offer generic medications at affordable prices.
Every year, March 7 is observed as 'Jan Aushadhi Diwas' to promote awareness about the scheme and encourage the utilization of generic medicines. Recently, week-long events were conducted across the nation from March 1 to 7 to bolster this initiative.
