New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju delivered a pointed critique of the Congress party on Tuesday, asserting that several of its leaders have connections with Maoists and Left-Wing Extremists (LWE). He indicated that some Congress members have engaged with these groups, which he found deeply ironic in light of the party's public opposition to extremism.

Rijiju communicated to IANS that during the period when Sonia Gandhi led the National Advisory Council, there were figures linked to Left-Wing extremist ideologies. "Consider this: Rahul Gandhi is recognized by these individuals," Rijiju claimed.

This statement followed Amit Shah's assertion in the Lok Sabha that the nation is nearing a state free of Naxalism. Shah highlighted that the threat posed by Maoists has significantly diminished, with the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh now progressing towards development.

During his address, Shah emphasized that the government has set a deadline of March 31 for the complete eradication of Maoist violence and expressed optimism about meeting this target.

"Naxalism in the country is approaching extinction. The public will be updated once the entire process is officially concluded, but I can confidently say that we are nearly Naxal-free," Shah stated.

In response to Shah's comments, Rijiju highlighted the impact of Naxal violence on political figures, particularly those from the Congress. He noted, "Numerous Congress leaders and workers have fallen victim to Naxalite violence. Several notable figures have been targeted by Left-Wing extremists."

Rijiju further alleged that despite these attacks, some Congress members have continued their connections with Maoists. "What could be more ironic than this? Congress leaders have met with Maoists while their own members suffer at the hands of these groups," he remarked.

Calling for accountability, the Union Minister urged Congress workers to question their leadership. "Party members should ask Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi about the innocent lives lost due to Left-Wing extremist threats and what involvement, if any, the leadership had in these issues," he stated.

Rijiju also condemned the Congress for its persistent negativity and political opportunism, asserting that the party's influence is waning and that India remains secure under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi.

"In spite of global challenges, the nation remains stable and secure. The Prime Minister has called for unity during these tough times, yet the Opposition persists in political maneuvering. This is unfortunate," he concluded.
