Patna, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) convened a review meeting on Friday at the residence of Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Patna, to discuss the party's strategic direction moving forward.

Chairing the meeting was Tejashwi Yadav, who was joined by all four Lok Sabha MPs from the RJD: Misa Bharti, Abhay Kushwaha, Sudhakar Singh, and Surendra Prasad Yadav. Also present were Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha, Sanjay Yadav, and other senior figures from the Bihar unit of the RJD.

Sudhakar Singh, the RJD MP for Buxar, mentioned that the focus of the meeting was primarily on the strategy for the upcoming Budget Session of both the Parliament and the Bihar Assembly.

“We deliberated on the issues that will be brought up during the Budget Session, including requests for special status or a unique package for Bihar. Additionally, we discussed topics pertinent to the Bihar Assembly,” Sudhakar Singh stated.

When questioned about whether the party had addressed the reasons behind its electoral losses, Singh noted that this topic had been covered in prior meetings.

“The state president, Mangni Lal Mandal, has been conducting review meetings for the last month. Those topics have been thoroughly examined,” he remarked.

Regarding Tejashwi Yadav's planned statewide yatra, Sudhakar Singh added: “After the Budget Session, we will convene to finalize the details of his statewide tour.”

This meeting comes as Tejashwi Yadav has re-engaged in political activities, having previously stepped back from public appearances following the RJD’s significant defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

His return to active politics has garnered attention within the party.

However, the review meeting also elicited some internal criticism. Rohini Acharya, Tejashwi Yadav's sister, took to social media to challenge the purpose of the gathering, labeling it a “show.”

She urged her brother to concentrate on self-reflection and meaningful actions rather than tokenistic meetings.

“Self-reflection and accountability are more crucial than merely staging a review meeting. The validity of any review will be proven only when there is the bravery to confront those who surround you. The public is aware of everything,” she commented, hinting at senior party leaders, including Sanjay Yadav.

Her remarks have intensified speculation regarding internal rifts within the RJD as the party attempts to reorganize following its electoral challenges.

Point of View

The Rashtriya Janata Dal's review meeting signifies a crucial moment for the party as it navigates through its recent electoral challenges. The internal discourse surrounding strategy and accountability illustrates the importance of introspection in political resilience. As the RJD seeks to reposition itself, the effectiveness of its leadership and cohesive action will be vital to regain public trust and support.
