New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) In a strong appeal for social cohesion amidst rising tensions with Pakistan, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) commended the decisive measures taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration against terrorist infrastructures following the horrific Pahalgam assault.
"We extend our congratulations to the leadership of the central government and our armed forces for the impactful action ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terrorists backed by Pakistan and their support network after the despicable attack on innocent tourists at Pahalgam," stated RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat.
"This initiative aims to deliver justice to the affected families and the nation in light of the brutal slaying of Hindu tourists, boosting the self-esteem and morale of the entire country," he shared in a post on social media platform X.
The RSS leader urged the public to stay united and support the Army during these challenging times. "All citizens are encouraged to demonstrate their patriotism and be ready to assist the Army and local authorities as needed, reinforcing efforts to uphold national unity and security," he added.
Backing 'Operation Sindoor', Bhagwat remarked, "We fully endorse that military actions against terrorists, their infrastructure, and support systems in Pakistan are vital and unavoidable for the nation's security. During this national emergency, the entire country stands united with the government and armed forces in spirit and action."
The RSS also criticized the attempts by the Pakistani Army to target civilian and religious sites within India.
"We denounce the assaults conducted by the Pakistani army on places of worship and civilian areas along Bharat's border, and we express our heartfelt condolences to the families of victims affected by these brutal, inhumane attacks," Bhagwat stated.
The RSS called upon citizens to adhere strictly to the directives issued by the government and local administration.
"In fulfilling our civic duties, we must remain vigilant and prevent any conspiracies by anti-national forces from disrupting social unity and harmony," Bhagwat emphasized.
India initiated 'Operation Sindoor' aimed at terrorist training camps across the Line of Control (LoC) and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), as a response to the deadly terrorist incident in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.
The situation intensified further as reports emerged of Pakistan launching numerous drone and artillery strikes along the Western Border, engaging in ceasefire violations.
On the night of May 8 and 9, the Pakistani Armed Forces executed multiple drone and artillery assaults along the entire Western border. The Indian Army stated that all drone attempts were effectively countered, and a strong response was provided to ceasefire violations.
Moreover, India successfully shot down a Pakistani Air Force's F-16 and two JF-17 aircraft after Islamabad attempted to strike various locations in Jammu and Punjab, according to government sources.
