New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) Nikolai Patrushev, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation, honored the courageous members of the Indian Armed Forces at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on Tuesday.
During his visit, Mr. Patrushev laid a wreath and paid tribute to the Bravehearts at Amar Jawan Jyoti, as noted in a post by the National War Memorial on X.
In the visitor's book, he expressed, "May the memory of valiant Indian warriors who have fallen in action for the liberty and independence of India live forever."
Following this, he explored the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, which commemorates the nation's journey since its independence in 1947, and signed the guest book.
Patrushev stated, "In commemoration of my visit to the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. I remain firmly convinced of the enduring value of the friendship between Russia and India and the shared arc of history that unites our peoples. May the special and privileged strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi continue to grow and strengthen in every possible way!"
On the preceding day, high-level interagency consultations took place between India and Russia, led by Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Patrushev. The meeting involved senior officials and experts from both nations reviewing the extensive maritime cooperation.
The statement released post-meeting highlighted, "The discussions reaffirmed the deep and enduring Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia, grounded in mutual trust, respect, and a shared vision for long-term economic and strategic cooperation."
During these consultations, Patrushev mentioned that Russia could present India with "interesting initiatives" in shipbuilding, including existing or new designs for fishing, passenger, and auxiliary vessels.
He remarked, "We have extensive experience in creating specialized ships — such as ice-class vessels, with no rivals in icebreakers. There are opportunities for our cooperation in green shipbuilding, which is currently one of India's main priorities in the maritime domain."
Both parties noted the strong guidance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which continues to shape the growing India-Russia partnership.
They expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive discussions and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in shipbuilding, port development, maritime logistics, Arctic operations, research, and training.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to cultivate a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable maritime partnership that contributes to the long-term prosperity of both nations and strengthens regional and global connectivity.
