Agartala, April 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, delivered a pointed critique of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) on Wednesday, alleging that it has overseen a period of "theft and corruption" within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

CM Saha emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands as the sole party capable of fostering the growth of Janjati (tribal) communities.

His comments followed a series of roadshows in Bodhjangnagar-Wakhinagar, Simna-Tamakari, Jirania, and Mandainagar-Pulinpur in West Tripura, as part of the BJP's campaign for the upcoming TTAADC elections scheduled for April 12.

The Chief Minister accused the TMP-led TTAADC administration of not delivering results despite receiving significant financial backing from the state government at different times.

"From the outset, we have been actively engaged in this campaign since we decided to contest all 28 Assembly seats. Our groundwork in tribal regions began three months ahead of the election announcement. We are confident in the BJP's ability to independently contest the TTAADC elections due to the ongoing theft and corruption witnessed in the tribal council. Even after multiple opportunities from the public, the TMP has failed to adequately serve the people," he stated.

CM Saha also pointed out the dire state of development in Tripura, mentioning his personal inspections of facilities in tribal areas, which he described as exceedingly poor.

"I have visited several smoke houses used for processing rubber sheets, and the conditions are appalling. We have earmarked Rs 35 crore for hospitals, along with an additional Rs 10 crore outside the budget, and Rs 30 crore for various projects. However, I have not observed any corresponding progress on the ground," he remarked.

He further noted that the public has already experienced governance under various parties, including the Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Congress, and can now make informed decisions.

"Only the BJP can govern transparently, and the people have come to realize this truth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always been committed to the development of tribal communities," he added.

On Wednesday, the Chief Minister visited the home of BJP candidate Maji Debbarma, who was injured in an alleged attack by individuals associated with the TMP, at the Pekuazjala–Janmejoynagar Assembly constituency.

After addressing an election rally in Takarjala, he proceeded to Jarulbachai Padmamohan Para, where the injured candidate resides, to inquire about his health and medical treatment.

CM Saha assured the BJP candidate and his family that those responsible for the attack would face severe legal consequences.

In discussions with the media, he mentioned that one of the attackers has already been apprehended by authorities, while another suspect remains at large.

He added that such acts of violence would not dissuade BJP workers. "These kinds of violent acts are not being received well by the people," he stated.
