Agartala, April 25 (NationPress) Chief Minister Manik Saha of Tripura convened a significant meeting on Friday with the leadership of the ruling BJP and its two partner parties – Tipra Motha Party (TMP) and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), where they addressed a range of political and developmental matters, as reported by sources.
A senior member of the BJP remarked that the meeting was extremely fruitful, focusing on essential developmental strategies aimed at boosting the state's advancement and further solidifying their alliance.
Among those present were Rajib Bhattacharjee, the state unit BJP president and Rajya Sabha member, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, the TMP head and former royal heir, along with Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, and IPFT President Prem Kumar Reang, alongside other senior party figures.
The BJP leader highlighted that the discussions involved comprehensive talks on various concerns related to the overall development of Tripura, with an emphasis on inclusive growth, infrastructure development, indigenous welfare, and socio-economic upliftment.
CM Saha expressed his satisfaction with the meeting's results and reiterated the government's dedication to collaboratively working with all parties for the betterment and welfare of Tripura's residents.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister shared on X: “We are fortifying alliances for a brighter future! BJP, IPFT, and Tipra Motha Party conducted a joint meeting in the presence of BJP State President Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee ji, Tipra Motha Party Supremo Maharaj Pradyot Manikya Ji, and IPFT State President Shri Prem Kumar Reang Ji. We explored ways to further strengthen our partnership and collaboratively work towards the state's advancement.”
Earlier, CM Saha announced that ambitious projects and initiatives worth Rs 1,400 crore, funded by the World Bank, are currently in progress in the state to enhance the socio-economic conditions of indigenous tribes, noting that prior administrations neglected their welfare.
The Rs 1,400 crore will be allocated under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) to further improve the livelihoods and overall socio-economic status of Janajati (tribal) communities.
CM Saha stated: “We must commit to addressing the tasks that remain incomplete and ensure they are prioritized after discussions in the upcoming year, as we strive to advance the state.”
Tribal communities account for one-third of Tripura's total population of four million and play a crucial role across various dimensions of the northeastern state, including in electoral politics.
Out of the 60 seats in the state Assembly, 30 are reserved for tribal representatives.
