Agartala, Nov 9 (NationPress) In a significant gathering, all senior leaders of the BJP convened an important meeting in the presence of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday to deliberate on various organizational issues and upcoming initiatives.
The State BJP President and Rajya Sabha member Rajib Bhattacharjee shared insights on his X account, stating: "Today (Sunday), I participated in an organizational meeting at the state party office, alongside Chief Minister Manik Saha, where we engaged with state office bearers, presidents and chairpersons of all morchas, and district leaders. We focused on planning future organizational activities and outlining directives for upcoming actions."
This meeting comes in light of the Chief Minister's recent closed-door discussions with Tipra Motha Party (TMP) leader Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma regarding the execution of the tripartite 'Tiprasa Accord', signed on March 2 last year in New Delhi to foster comprehensive socio-economic development for the state's indigenous tribal communities.
On Saturday, the Chief Minister informed reporters about their review of the progress concerning the tripartite accord, signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
TMP founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma described the meeting as "very positive" and expressed optimism about continued collaboration between his party and the BJP for the benefit of tribal populations.
Another BJP leader noted that with elections for the politically significant Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) approaching early next year, party leaders have been tasked with evaluating organizational strength at the booth level in tribal areas.
He mentioned that the BJP has already appointed party observers for all 28 TTAADC seats.
As the elections draw near, both the BJP and its allies, the TMP and the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), are striving to enhance their presence within tribal communities.
Both the TMP and IPFT are tribal-centric parties.
Led by former royal scion Debbarma, the TMP has been managing the 30-member (with 28 elected and 2 nominated by the Governor) TTAADC since 2021.
This tribal autonomous body governs nearly two-thirds of Tripura's 10,491 square km area, home to over 12.16 lakh individuals, about 84% of whom are tribal.
Tribal communities represent approximately one-third of Tripura's four million residents and are pivotal in the state's electoral dynamics.
Out of the 60 Assembly seats, 20 are reserved for tribal candidates.
