A party official, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that the discussions encompassed the election of the state unit party president and issues concerning BJP's allies, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and Tipra Motha Party (TMP).
In attendance were Chief Minister Manik Saha, state President Rajib Bhattacharjee, former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha member Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP’s northeast in-charge Sambit Patra, central observer for Tripura Rajdeep Roy, along with other senior leaders and ministers.
Prior to the meeting in Agartala, J.P. Nadda, accompanied by his wife, Manik Saha, Sambit Patra, and other leaders, visited the Tripura Sundari temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas revered by Hindus, situated in southern Tripura’s Udaipur.
As part of the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) initiative from the Union Tourism Ministry, the 524-year-old Tripura Sundari temple has undergone redevelopment costing over Rs 52 crore.
Earlier, Nadda addressed a large rally at the Swami Vivekananda stadium to commemorate the second anniversary of the BJP 2.0 government.
During the rally, J.P. Nadda, who is also the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, introduced two new schemes aimed at benefiting girl children in the state: Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana (MBSY) and Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana (MKAY).
Under the MBSY scheme, the Tripura government will deposit a bond of Rs 50,000 for every girl child born into a below poverty line (BPL) family. Upon turning 18, the girl will receive a bond valued between Rs 8 to 10 lakh.
The MKAY scheme will provide two-wheelers (scooties) to 140 meritorious girl students from both state and central boards.
Nadda praised Chief Minister Manik Saha for initiating these two new schemes during his speech.
He expressed that the enthusiasm exhibited by the people of Tripura signifies increasing trust in the government led by Chief Minister Saha.
“As sevaks (servants) of the people, we continue to earn Tripura's blessings. We ensure last-mile delivery at the grassroots level. Our policies are not merely theoretical; they genuinely benefit the people of Tripura. This marks my first visit to the state following the Lok Sabha elections, and I wish to extend my gratitude to the people of Tripura for electing BJP candidates in both Lok Sabha seats in 2019 and again in 2024,” he concluded.
