New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Steel Authority of India Limited, the largest public sector steel manufacturer in India, announced on Thursday that it achieved a historic sales figure of 20.14 million tonnes (MT) in FY26, marking an impressive 11.5 percent increase from last year's sales of 18.07 million tonnes.
This remarkable growth was widespread, with sales increasing across all product categories, as indicated by the company.
Crude steel production reached an unprecedented level of 19.43 MT, while saleable steel output also set a new record at 19.176 MT.
The company highlighted that deliveries to Indian Railways peaked at 1.25 million tonnes from the Universal Rail Mill, emphasizing SAIL's strategic role in supporting rail infrastructure development. Furthermore, exports soared to 2.9 lakh tonnes, achieving a remarkable 162 percent growth as SAIL successfully penetrated new international markets, including Bhutan.

Additionally, the state-owned steel giant announced that Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel), has taken on the additional role of Chairman & Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Limited.
With over four decades of extensive experience in various functions such as steel plant operations, human resource development, vigilance, and personnel administration, Singh has played a crucial role in transforming SAIL's human resources.
As Director (Personnel), he has led initiatives to enhance employee welfare and development programs, ensuring the workforce is prepared for future challenges.
In a previous announcement, SAIL highlighted its outstanding performance in January, which included remarkable achievements in sales, dispatches, cash collections, and customer delivery.
The company experienced record dispatches from its plants, increased door delivery volumes, and enhanced warehouse sales, demonstrating a strong focus on customer satisfaction and logistics efficiency while deepening market engagement.
