New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Sainik School Sujanpur Tira in Himachal Pradesh and Sainik School Amaravathinagar in Tamil Nadu are part of six Sainik Schools that have yet to finalize the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with their respective state governments, as per the data released by the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday.
Sainik Schools establish Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), also referred to as Memorandums of Agreement (MoAs), with state authorities to delineate responsibilities and secure essential resources necessary for the institution's establishment and functioning.
These schools are a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the state governments involved. The MoU typically addresses issues concerning land and infrastructure, financial assistance, and pension obligations.
The six schools pending MoU signing include Sainik School Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir, Sainik School Kunjpura in Haryana, Sainik School Imphal in Manipur, and Sainik School Bhubaneshwar in Odisha, according to Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth.
Earlier this year, the Ministry launched an online portal for registration of schools that are eligible and interested as part of a government initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools in collaboration with state governments, NGOs, and the private sector through the Sainik School Society.
Schools, trusts, and NGOs were encouraged to utilize the portal for registration to capitalize on this opportunity, as stated in an official announcement.
The Government of India's initiative to create 100 new Sainik Schools aims to not only offer quality education aligned with the National Education Policy but also to provide better career prospects for students, including pathways to join the Armed Forces. Additionally, it represents a chance for state governments, NGOs, and the private sector to collaborate with the central government in nation-building efforts.
To this end, the MoD has given approval for 86 new Sainik Schools affiliated with private organizations, NGOs, and state governments.
These new Sainik Schools will operate under the Sainik Schools Society and adhere to the prescribed Rules and Regulations for New Sainik Schools in a partnership model, in addition to their regular curriculum.
Moreover, they will provide educational programs based on the Academic-Plus curriculum tailored to the Sainik School framework.
