Bhubaneswar, Dec 3 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Manmath Routray, took action on Tuesday by submitting two complaints against Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. One complaint claims that the CM made a racially discriminatory comment regarding tribal girls, while the other accuses him of using a derogatory term towards former bureaucrat and BJD leader V.K. Pandian during a public gathering.
Previously, Routray faced legal action from the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police for allegedly making inappropriate remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Majhi.
In a press briefing, Routray stated that the first complaint addresses a highly offensive and racially discriminatory statement purportedly made by CM Majhi concerning Adivasi girls from the Keonjhar district.
“We live in a nation where Gandhiji’s principles against racial discrimination are honored globally. Yet, the Chief Minister himself made a statement implying that Adivasi girls from his own district have dark skin and ‘are not of clean skin’. He even mentioned this as the rationale for not marrying a local Adivasi girl,” Routray asserted.
Routray condemned the remark as “the utmost form of racial discrimination,” arguing that such comments from someone in a constitutional position are intolerable.
“A Chief Minister, regardless of caste, creed, or color, should protect marginalized communities. Instead, he has tarnished the dignity of Adivasi women and violated constitutional values. He must face justice,” the BJD leader contended.
He dismissed claims that the alleged comment was made long ago, insisting that he wants the CM to respond in court.
“Whether he chooses to apologize, counter, or contest the FIRs will expose his mindset and his respect for the Constitution,” Routray noted.
The second FIR filed by Routray involves an alleged remark by CM Majhi calling V.K. Pandian “Pandu–Gandu” during a public event. Routray argued that the term “Pandu” is associated with the ancient Pandyan dynasty, a historically significant South Indian empire.
“When making a derogatory remark about someone, one should refer to the individual by name, not an entire dynasty. The Pandyan rulers contributed significantly to India’s cultural and economic heritage. Today, numerous Odias work in Tamil Nadu, the land of the Pandyas. Using ‘Pandu’ in a negative context disrespects an entire legacy,” he expressed.
