Mumbai, Nov 14 (NationPress) Iconic actress Saira Banu took to her social media platform to recount a touching tale involving the late Kamini Kaushal, who recently passed away. In her heartfelt post, she shared a photo series that included a still from their film, alongside images of Kaushal with the legendary Dilip Kumar from their collaborations.
Banu reflected on a particular moment while filming the acclaimed movie Purab Aur Paschim, stating, “We worked together in Purab Aur Paschim, and it was during that film that one of my dearest memories with her unfolded.” She recounted how, during a scene where Preeti, a westernized girl, visits a temple on Nag Panchami and encounters a snake, she was dressed in pointy high heels, which made running on a muddy path challenging.
She recalled, “Manoj Kumar ji expressed his concern for me, asking, ‘Saira, how will you run in these high heels?’ At that moment, Uma Ji graciously offered me her own flats with a gentle laugh, saying, ‘Yeh pehen lo, zyada aasaan rahega. (Wear these; it will make it easier for you.)’ To my astonishment, they fit perfectly.” Saira continued, “Later, we shared a hearty laugh about it, as if they were my own shoes. I also cherish how, upon my engagement with Dilip Sahib, she took the time to call and congratulate me, conveying her joy personally.”
Moreover, she reflected on a recent memory of the late star, writing, “A few months back, I stumbled upon a video of her dancing, where she moved so gracefully. I remember thinking, ‘I should reach out to her…’ I attempted to call, and while I couldn't speak with her directly, I had a lovely conversation with her daughter-in-law.”
Expressing her heartfelt sorrow over Kamini Kaushal's demise, Banu said, “Today, as I remember her, I find no grand words, just fond memories of a woman who embodied dignity. May we honor her legacy not just through her films but also for the grace, kindness, and cultured brilliance she brought into the world.”
To note, Kamini Kaushal passed away on November 14 at the age of 98, due to age-related health challenges. She was a celebrated actress during her prime in Bollywood.
