Kottayam (Kerala), Nov 26 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in Kerala, V.D. Satheesan, vehemently criticized both the CPI-M and the BJP on Wednesday, claiming they are colluding to safeguard corruption, protect criminals, and mislead voters ahead of the local body elections.
During a Meet the Press event held by the Kottayam Press Club, Satheesan emphasized that the UDF is entering the elections with meticulous planning and is confident of achieving a significant victory.
He indicated that the Sabarimala gold theft incident will be a pivotal topic during the campaign.
“This theft was orchestrated through a complex criminal scheme, and those in power in Kerala are complicit,” he charged.
Satheesan accused the CPI-M of failing to act against its members who have been incarcerated due to their involvement in the gold and temple artifact theft, apprehensive that more prominent individuals might face incarceration if they speak out.
“We will unveil the Sabarimala gold conspiracy,” he declared.
He clarified that the UDF’s charge sheet against the government is not merely a political document but represents “a trial of the people” that reveals corruption, misgovernance, and criminal collusion at the highest echelons.
Satheesan pointed out that the UDF manifesto extends beyond mere criticism; it proposes “clear, alternative plans” aimed at transforming local governance, improving the lives of ordinary citizens, and reshaping the future of Kerala.
He labeled the CPI(M) as a “party of crooks and criminals”, referencing a CPI-M candidate who received a 20-year sentence for a police bomb attack yet remains eligible to run for election.
Satheesan also alleged that the LDF government secretly drafted the Labour Code in 2021 without engaging with political entities, trade unions, or the Opposition, all while publicly opposing central policies.
“This government is submissive to the BJP. They only oppose the BJP in public while supporting its actions behind the scenes,” he remarked.
He further accused the BJP of duplicity — “distributing cake in Kerala to attract Christian votes while nationally attacking priests, nuns, and churches, even disrupting Christmas services.”
He concluded that the Christian community is now aware of this deception.
“The public will recognize this CPI-M-BJP alliance. The UDF will triumph over both and emerge victorious,” Satheesan affirmed.
