Why Were Schools Closed in Balotra?

Jaipur, May 9 (NationPress) Due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the Rajasthan government has mandated the suspension of all private and government schools in Balotra district, effective from Friday, with holidays extending until further notice.

However, this closure will not affect ongoing examinations for Classes 9 and 11, as well as the State Open School exams, which will proceed as scheduled.

This directive is part of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which calls for the closure of all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, in several border districts throughout the state.

In response, district administrations in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Bikaner have already declared holidays for schools, Anganwadi centres, and madrasas until further notice.

The District Education Officer of Balotra confirmed that all school heads have been directed to suspend classes for students, except where examinations are taking place.

While the students are on leave, staff members must report to their institutions as per the regular schedule.

No employee is allowed to leave the headquarters during this time.

Furthermore, the leave of all officers and employees in Balotra district has been cancelled immediately.

Even individuals who had previously been granted leave are now required to return to their workplaces without delay.

This stringent measure aims to ensure constant monitoring, coordination, and effective execution of disaster management and relief operations across the district.

The state government has revoked the leave of all officers and employees of government departments, including police, doctors, and paramedical staff.

In light of the escalating situation, comprehensive guidelines have been issued for all border districts to guarantee public safety and preparedness.

Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU) in Jodhpur has postponed all examinations until further notice.

As a precautionary measure, daily blackouts have been implemented in various districts.

In Barmer and Jaisalmer, the blackout is observed from 9 PM to 4 AM, while in Jodhpur, it is enforced from 9:30 PM to 4 AM.

Notably, the blackout time was previously scheduled for 12:30 AM but was advanced by three hours as a proactive safety measure.

Additionally, blackouts were executed in other regions of the state.

Pali experienced a blackout until 4 AM on Friday.

Similar actions were taken by the police in Nal, Bikaner, and in Mount Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station, where the administration declared a complete blackout.

To further enhance security, the Bikaner administration has imposed a ban on drone flights and fireworks, with a similar ban on fireworks enforced in Sri Ganganagar.
