Guwahati, Sep 26 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia touched down in Guwahati on Friday for a significant two-day expedition through the Northeastern region. Upon his arrival, he took part in the Artfed Jagaran event, which was organized under the GST Bachat Utsav, and engaged with members of the press.
In his address, Minister Scindia emphasized the government’s recent GST rate cuts, labeling them as unprecedented and advantageous for all citizens, dubbing them a genuine gift for this Diwali.
The Union Minister for Communications and the Development of North Eastern Region announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to unveil a groundbreaking accomplishment in the telecommunications sector—the fully indigenous 4G stack and 100,000 Swadeshi BSNL towers.
He elaborated: “This project, entirely crafted in India, incorporates C-DOT’s core network, Tejas Networks’ radio access network, and integration by TCS, all designed with future technological advancements in mind.”
Scindia further informed the media that in celebration of BSNL’s 25th anniversary, Prime Minister Modi would launch this fully indigenous 4G stack and the extensive network of BSNL towers for the nation on Saturday.
The event in Guwahati was graced by the presence of Keshab Mahanta, Minister of the Government of Assam, and Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of GMC, among others.
The Minister underlined that the recent GST rate reductions are historical.
Previously, various tax slabs had placed a heavy burden on traders and created inconvenience for consumers.
Now, the new rates have streamlined this process, reducing GST to just two slabs—5 percent and 18 percent.
Essentials for the average citizen now fall under these slabs, alleviating the tax burden for traders and making goods more affordable for consumers, thus invigorating the economy.
Scindia asserted that this initiative embodies the spirit of the GST Bachat Utsav, delivering savings directly to every household and serving as a present to the people of India during Navratri and Diwali.
He emphasized that this landmark achievement not only signifies a major step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat but also positions India as a global leader in telecommunications. Adhering to the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, India will set a benchmark in digital inclusion and technological prowess, benefiting not only its citizens but the entire world.
