Chennai, Dec 22 (NationPress) The SG Pipers men’s team has landed in Chennai as they ramp up preparations for the upcoming Hero Hockey India League season 2, set to kick off on January 03. With the league making a comeback, the Pipers are entering the season with a renewed sense of purpose and a heightened focus on consistency, execution, and better on-field results.

The team comprises a well-rounded mix of seasoned Indian internationals and promising young talents, ensuring depth in all areas. With fierce competition anticipated from rival teams, this season’s focus is on establishing early rhythm and maintaining discipline throughout their matches.

Leading the charge is head coach Tim Oudenaller, who adopts a structured and detail-oriented strategy. Since the team's arrival, Oudenaller has been collaborating closely with players on defensive organization, transition play, and efficiency inside both circles, aspects critical for success in the league.

Reflecting on the team’s reset and season priorities, Tim Oudenaller stated, “Our primary focus is on defense, which is non-negotiable. Building from defense, structure, and accountability is essential. Equally crucial is resetting our mindset. My role, alongside the staff, is to infuse energy, belief, and clarity, providing players with an extra push daily. Early signs of progress are simple indicators: smiles, comfort, enjoyment in their work, and commitment to the process—all signs that we’re heading in the right direction.”

On the field, Jarmanpreet Singh takes charge as captain, bolstering the defensive line with composure and experience from international play. His ability to handle pressure and organize the defense will be pivotal to the team’s strategy this season.

Adding to the team’s attacking prowess is Rupinder Pal Singh, one of India’s top drag-flickers. His presence offers the Pipers a reliable option during penalty corners and brings crucial experience in high-stakes matches.

Joining them are Rohit, Ankit Pal, Dilraj Singh, and Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, all filled with confidence following India’s Bronze Medal at the Junior World Cup earlier this year. Their energy, speed, and readiness to take responsibility are expected to enhance the Pipers’ playing style.

As Jarmanpreet Singh remarked, “We have a robust SG Pipers team this time, blending seniority with youthful vigor. Many young players are entering with confidence from the Junior World Cup. Last season didn’t go as planned, so our goal is clear: maintain consistency, push hard in every match, and aim for a top-four finish. The team’s commitment is solid.”
