How Did SG Pipers Retain 17 Men’s Team Players Ahead of Hockey India League Season 2 Auction?

New Delhi, Sep 13 (NationPress) SG Pipers have announced an impressive roster of 17 retained men's players in anticipation of the Hockey India League (HIL) 2025 auctions, featuring a well-rounded combination of Indian talents and international stars.

This retained lineup highlights the franchise's dedication to cultivating domestic talent while enhancing their global reputation across all positions. The coaching team collaborated closely with the Director of Hockey, Padma Bhushan PR Sreejesh, to finalize the list of players retained.

Additionally, the Pipers have finalized the signing of Welsh international Jacob Draper, who has been traded from Team Gonasika after participating in all 10 matches last season.

In goal, Tomas Santiago of Argentina and India's Pawan reinforce the defense, complemented by Jarmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Rohit, Manjeet, and Welsh player Gareth Furlong. The midfield is strengthened by Shamsher Singh, Rajkumar Pal, Ankit Pal, and Kingson Singh from India, alongside Australia’s Ky Willott and Jacob Draper. Leading the attack is Argentina’s Tomas Domene, supported by India's Aditya Lalage, Sourabh Anand Khushwaha, and Dilraj Singh.

The retained players provided unforgettable moments for fans last season and on the international stage. Shamsher Singh, a two-time Olympic medalist, is back as a symbol of resilience. Jarmanpreet Singh will add strength to the defense, having played a pivotal role in India’s Asia Cup 2025 victory. Varun Kumar, a bronze medalist from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, will enhance the backline with his speed and tenacity. Rajkumar Pal is known for his ability to remain calm under pressure, a quality he demonstrated in penalty shootouts against Team Gonasika and Great Britain. Tomas Santiago further enriches the goalkeeping position.

Collaborating with Sreejesh, a cornerstone of Indian Hockey, the coaching and leadership team will offer strategic direction and mentorship as the franchise gears up for the upcoming season.
