New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) The acclaimed National Award-winning actress Shabana Azmi expresses that it would be unrealistic to presume she has gone through every experience and notes that what lies ahead is "life in its entirety."
When questioned about any unknowns she still wishes to uncover, Shabana responded to IANS: “Oh, life in its entirety. Because it would be futile to think I've experienced everything. Yes, I can't do adventurous things anymore. That would be foolish, but I still want to do it. I don't want much.”
The septuagenarian actress began her career in 1974 with “Ankur.” After five decades in the entertainment industry, she boasts an impressive filmography of over 160 films, primarily in independent and neorealist cinema, while also branching out into mainstream productions and international ventures.
Shabana is widely recognized for her interpretations of unique, often unconventional female roles across diverse genres.
Thanks to her compelling performances, she has earned a remarkable five National Film Awards for Best Actress. The talented actress was also awarded the Padma Shri in 1998 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012.
Reflecting on her career, is there a role she regrets missing out on or a film she wishes she had been a part of?
“I have a habit, my friend tells me, I said, thank God I didn't do this film. She responds, 'was it offered to you'? I said, 'no'. She then asked, 'then why are you thankful?'
“So there's this fantasy in my head where I feel, it's good that I didn't do it, but when you didn't get an offer, what could you have done? She always makes fun of me because of this,” said the actress, who attended the launch of Antara AGEasy, a comprehensive platform catering to seniors.
On the professional front, the actress was last seen in the film “Ghoomer,” a sports drama directed by R. Balki, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Saiyami Kher, and Angad Bedi.
