Mumbai, Nov 20 (NationPress) Grammy-nominated, National Award–winning artist Shilpa Rao made her way back to Ranchi, the city that ignited her initial aspirations. The singer was given the opportunity to perform at Jharkhand’s 25th Foundation Day, where Shilpa took center stage not only as one of India's most esteemed contemporary voices but also – as she describes herself – as the daughter of Ranchi, a place intricately woven into her narrative.

A particularly touching moment occurred when she called her parents on stage, paying tribute to those who first acknowledged her talent. It was her father, a trained musician with a Master’s degree in Music, who steadfastly believed in her potential. He encouraged her to pursue classical training, guided her early practice sessions, and fostered her artistic inclinations.

Few realize that it was in their Ranchi household where Rao's enchanting melodies first blossomed, with her practicing diligently every afternoon. Sharing her heartfelt emotions, Shilpa Rao expressed, "Everything I am today is because of Ranchi. It all started here, with my parents as my unwavering support. Inviting them on stage during the performance was my way of honoring the two individuals who shaped my voice, discipline, and dreams. The recognition I receive today is deeply rooted in the strong foundation they provided me."

As she performed in front of thousands, with her parents by her side, Shilpa Rao was visibly moved. Her parents were equally taken aback by the adoration their daughter was receiving.

For those unfamiliar, Shilpa Rao was awarded the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song Chaleya from the film Jawan (2023). Additionally, she was nominated for a Grammy Award (63rd Grammy Awards) in the Best Global Music Album category for her collaboration with Anoushka Shankar on the album Love Letters.
