Mumbai, Nov 20 (NationPress) Shilpa Rao, a Grammy-nominated and National Award-winning artist, made her way back to Jamshedpur, a city that significantly contributed to her early aspirations. The talented singer was invited to grace the stage during Jharkhand's 25th Foundation Day, where she stood proudly not just as a prominent contemporary voice of India but also as the daughter of Jamshedpur, a place intricately linked to her journey.

Emotions ran high when she called her parents to join her on stage, paying homage to those who first acknowledged her talent. Among the audience, her father’s unwavering support was evident, as he is a trained musician with an MA in Music, having encouraged her to follow classical training, assisting her during initial riyaaz sessions, and fostering her creative instincts.

Surprisingly, many are unaware that it was within the walls of their home in Jamshedpur that Rao's enchanting melodies first originated. She would dedicate her afternoons to practice, honing her skills. Sharing her gratitude and feelings, Shilpa expressed, "Everything I am today is because of Jamshedpur. It all started here, with my parents as my steadfast foundation. Inviting them on stage was my way of honoring the two individuals who molded my voice, my discipline, and my aspirations. Whatever recognition I receive today is deeply rooted in the foundation they provided me with."

Performing before a cheering crowd, flanked by her parents, Shilpa was visibly touched and emotional, with her parents equally astonished by the overwhelming affection directed towards their daughter.

For those unfamiliar, Shilpa Rao was honored with the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance of "Chaleya" from the acclaimed film Jawan (2023). Additionally, she earned a Grammy nomination (63rd Grammy Awards) in the Best Global Music Album category for her collaboration with Anoushka Shankar on the album Love Letters.
