Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Smriti Irani was on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, appointed the party's in-charge for Haryana, while national secretary and Member of Parliament Bhola Singh has been named co-in-charge. The appointments, announced by the BJP's central leadership, are part of a broader round of organisational changes aimed at strengthening the party's presence in the state.

Haryana BJP state president Archana Gupta welcomed the two leaders on behalf of the state unit, stating that their experience and organisational capabilities would bring fresh energy and direction to the outfit. In her statement, Gupta said Irani's extensive background in national politics, governance, and party organisation would provide critical guidance to the state BJP. She further noted that Bhola Singh's long track record of grassroots organisational work and his ability to engage closely with party workers would reinforce the unit's strength at every level.

Booth-to-State Expansion Drive

Gupta emphasised that the BJP's organisational machinery is continuously working to expand and deepen its network from the booth level up to the state level. She expressed confidence that the party's outreach efforts would gain further momentum under the guidance of the newly appointed in-charge and co-in-charge. Gupta's Hydrogen Train Ride Under 'Kahani Badlav Ki' Campaign

Separately, as part of the 'Kahani Badlav Ki' (Story of Change) campaign under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' — marking 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public life of service and commitment — Gupta travelled on a hydrogen-powered train from Gohana to Jind on Wednesday. She was accompanied by members of the BJP state executive and interacted with youths, women, children, and other passengers, gathering their experiences and suggestions during the journey.

Topics discussed during the outreach included women's safety, modern railway amenities, cleanliness aboard trains, and the aspirations of young commuters. Gupta described the hydrogen train introduced in Haryana as not merely a new mode of transport, but as a symbol of India's broader push toward a clean, green, and self-reliant future.

Railways as a Marker of National Progress

Gupta also credited Prime Minister Modi with strengthening national unity through the historic project of connecting Kashmir with Kanyakumari via the railway network — often described as the 'poor man's mode of transport'. She highlighted the transformation of Indian Railways over the past 12 years, citing milestones such as indigenous hydrogen-powered trains and the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab river, as evidence of growing public confidence in the national transporter.
