Jammu, Feb 15 (NationPress) An army soldier was injured by gunfire on Friday near the line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor sector, as reported by an official.
Officials stated that the army soldier suffered injuries during the gunfire incident near the LoC in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.
"The soldier was positioned at a forward post in the Battal area of the Akhnoor sector when he was struck by gunfire, seemingly from across the LoC. He was promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention. It is too early to determine if the injuries were caused by fire from the Pakistan army or by terrorists operating from the Pakistani side of the LoC," an official remarked.
On February 11, two soldiers, including a captain, lost their lives due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the Akhnoor sector.
Subsequently, it was indicated that the IED had been set up by terrorists. Moreover, on February 12, unprovoked firing from the Pakistan army in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district was effectively countered by the Indian Army.
Reports suggest that the Pakistan army incurred casualties as a result of the Indian army's retaliatory actions.
On February 7, five terrorists were eliminated during a failed infiltration attempt on the LoC in Poonch district, triggered when one of the infiltrating terrorists activated a landmine set by the Indian army as part of their anti-infiltration measures.
Following this, army patrols were fired upon from the LoC in Rajouri district, yet no casualties were reported.
In light of these occurrences, the Indian Army released a statement on February 13, affirming that the bilateral ceasefire along the LoC and the international border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir was being respected by both neighboring nations.
The statement further indicated that isolated incidents of ceasefire violations were being communicated to the Pakistani authorities for appropriate action.
