Hyderabad, Oct 23 (NationPress) Telangana’s Endowment and Forest Minister Konda Surekha has expressed her apologies to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy regarding the recent statements made by her daughter.
Following a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Surekha addressed the media, explaining that a misunderstanding led to some disputes.
“Just like in any family, there were disagreements within the party stemming from misunderstandings. We must collaborate as we do within a family,” she stated.
The minister mentioned that her daughter’s remarks about the Chief Minister were fueled by frustration over police presence at their residence, and she has since apologised to the Chief Minister.
Konda Surekha affirmed their intention to resolve the differences and move forward.
On Monday night, the minister visited the Chief Minister shortly after a police search for her dismissed OSD, which sparked significant controversy within the ruling Congress.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud accompanied Surekha and her husband Konda Murali to the Chief Minister’s residence to ease the tension resulting from the police's arrival at their home.
This police visit was in connection with the search for N. Sumanth, whose role as the minister’s OSD was terminated following allegations of extortion involving threats against a cement factory's management.
During the incident on the night of October 15, Surekha’s daughter, Sushmita, confronted the police, refusing them entry without an arrest warrant, leading to a heated exchange with the plainclothes officers.
Reportedly, Sumanth left the scene in a vehicle with the minister.
Sushmita claimed in a media interview that the police action was politically motivated against her family, alleging targeting by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, his advisor Vem Narender Reddy, and Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy, contending that they were being persecuted due to their backward caste status.
Additionally, there were accusations that Sumanth had threatened a Deccan Cements officer with a firearm for extortion.
